New Initiatives - 2023-2024

The Hon'ble Chief Minister on 12.07.2023 laid the foundation for the MC Raja College Student Hostel, Chennai to augment the hostel capacities and meet raising demands for student’s accommodation in and around Chennai.

In a first of its kind, integrated kitchen has been introduced at a cost of Rs.3.73 crores across 23 Adi Dravidar and Tribal Welfare hostels in Chennai District.

Eight modern student hostels with all amenities are constructed in Madurai, Coimbatore, Tiruchirappalli and Nilgiris at a cost of Rs.100.00 crore benefiting students.

College student hostels in Chennai, Thanjavur, Dharmapuri, Namakkal districts and a college student hostel in Madurai will be constructed at a total cost of Rs.80.00 crore.

To improve the academic environment in hostels, learning cum teaching rooms 39 with modern facilities in college hostels is constructed at cost of Rs.10.00 crore benefiting 2197 students in 22 hostels in 17 districts.

To provide access to e-Journals/ e- Books, e-library is set up in 23 college student hostels in 14 districts at a cost of Rs.21,19,749/-.

The food allowance given to the hostel students has been increased from Rs.1000/- to Rs.1400/- per month for school students and from Rs.1100/- to Rs.1500/- per month for college students.

Steps are being taken to provide special training to the 10th and 12th class students in hostels at a cost of Rs.1.00 crore.
